Who we are

EPG is an independent, non-profit think tank focused on energy and climate policy in Romania and the European Union. Founded in 2014, EPG operates as a policy research institute primarily financed through competitive grants, philanthropic organisations and, to a limited extent, private sector projects. EPG aims to promote an evidence-based dialogue on how to balance decarbonisation, economic competitiveness and social fairness, engaging decision-makers, industry, and the public.

Who we are

The Energy Policy Group (EPG) is a Bucharest-based non-profit, independent think-tank specializing in energy and climate policy, market analytics and energy strategy, grounded in February 2014. EPG’s regional focus is Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Basin. Its analyses, though, are informed by wider trends and processes at global and EU levels.

Projects

In our projects, EPG has taken an open, firm and consequent stance in favour of the clean energy transition, advocating for a coal-exit strategy in Romania, for regulations favourable to energy efficiency, digitalization and prosumers, as well as for smart energy-climate planning, aligned with the EU policies and long-term goals.

Annual report

2023 was a good year for EPG:

  • we extended, diversified and strengthened our team, reaching 20 in-house researchers and associates;
  • closed new partnerships with reputed international think-tanks and engaged in new policy research, with no less than 15 multi-annual European projects currently ongoing.
