
Mara Bălașa
Senior Associate
Mara is a Senior Associate within the Clean Economy programme of the EPG. She covers topics related to industrial policy, the costs of industrial decarbonisation (steel, ammonia, methanol), as well as financing and funding instruments. She is a PhD Fellow at the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication, Stockholm School of Economics, and a visiting PhD Fellow at the Energy Policy Research Group of the University of Cambridge.
Mara has a background in economics and political science (BSc University of Warwick), and economics and data analysis (MSc Stockholm School of Economics). Her work experience includes the roles of market operations analyst at the European Central Bank and research executive in public affairs in Brussels, focusing on energy and transport. She has also briefly worked in public administration at the Ministry of Economy in Romania and at the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union.
