
Lucian Mircescu

Lucian is a public policy professional with an extensive work background in various public institutional settings, be it at national (Romanian Government), EU (European Parliament) or international organisations level (UNICEF). His expertise covers the youth, sport and energy policy areas.
Regarding youth and sport, he has taken up a number of roles for the Romanian Executive, the most recent being the chairing of the Youth and Sport Committees in the Council of the EU, during the Romanian Presidency of 2019.
In energy, Lucian held a parliamentary advisory position covering the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) in the European Parliament, while since 2021, he has been a member of PPC Romania’s Institutional Affairs team. The operationalisation of the EU’s energy transition aspirations (whether EU-wide or in Romania in particular) forms Lucian’s main topic of interest in this field.
Professional pursuits aside, he is an active member of Romania’s rugby community, being closely involved, from a volunteer capacity, in the management of his hometown’s rugby club, which he helped found in 2012.
