Mr. Cătălin Lungu got a PhD diploma in Civil Engineering (2004) at the Technical University of Civil Engineering from Bucharest (UTCB) with specialized training at Paris XII Val de Marne University, France.

Mr. Lungu is Associate Professor at the Technical University of Civil Engineering from Bucharest and was for 7 years a visiting professor at École nationale supérieure de l’énergie, de l’eau et de l’environnement, Grenoble, France. He specializes in dynamic simulation of HVAC and RES systems, including current topics like EPBD transposition, NZEB and ZEB applied concepts. He represents the Romania Chamber of Energy Auditors as president since 2020, Romanian Association of Building Services Engineers as prime-vice president since 2020, and he was the REHVA president for the mandate 2022-2025. He is/was project manager of 6 research projects and member in other 4, including the project for the recast of the Romanian methodology for the calculation of the energy performance of buildings (Mc001-2022), based on the set of the new EPB standards (CEN). He is also in charge with the national training and continuous education of the Romanian energy assessors. As main author or co-author, Dr. Lungu published 8 books and more than 50 scientific or technical articles. Mr. Lungu is also advisory board member of the Energy Policy Group, ASRO board member, and president of the TC 302 ASRO. In 2021 he was awarded with Romanian Academy “Anghel Saligny” award for the best technical book (Thermal Engineering in Buildings, MATRIXROM).
