Alexandru Chivu
Research Assistant
Alexandru works as a Research Assistant in the Energy Systems Department where he focuses on nuclear energy and renewable energy acceleration areas.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Economics from Bucharest University of Economic Studies and a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences – Earth Systems Governance from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. His Master’s thesis examined the barriers to the deployment of floating PV projects, using Romania as a case study, representing the only academic research on this topic in the country.
Alexandru has a strong interest in European energy policy and climate policy, bringing previous research experience in governance related to renewable energy and energy systems. Before EPG, he served as a Research Assistant at Utrecht University, where he contributed to a project investigating the financing of forests managed as common pool resources. He also gained experience through internships at both the Romanian and the European Parliament.
