Clean Metals CEE
Project Description
The project aims to catalyse momentum for clean metals in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), contributing to both significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and enhanced regional industrial competitiveness. At a time when the metallurgical sector in CEE is facing mounting economic and structural pressures, the project seeks to empower the industry through targeted knowledge generation and capacity building. This approach is intended to position the region as a competitive producer and exporter of low-carbon metals and a source of cleantech innovation in metallurgy, while supporting regional development and economic convergence within the EU.
By combining research, capacity-building, and outreach activities, the project will strengthen cooperation between public and private stakeholders and lay the foundations for a functioning CEE clean metals market. Research outputs including national reports, an open-access monitoring tool, and policy-oriented workshops and conferences will engage national and EU-level policymakers (including European Commission representatives), industrial associations and metal producers, downstream users such as construction and clean-metal purchasers, as well as other related sectors such as the cleantech ecosystem and financial institutions.
