Industrial Decarbonisation Platform
About the platform
Since 2023, EPG has convened an informal platform of representatives of Romania’s heavy industry. The purpose of this platform is to establish a dialogue between industry representatives, policymakers and civil society, to discuss the challenges facing Romania’s industrial transformation, potential inter-sectoral synergies, and ways forward for policymakers and business to launch this transformation at pace and scale.
Topics of discussion have included funding and financing, hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation, and storage, and infrastructure.
Highlights
The stakeholder platform is convened in closed-door, topic-specific roundtables. Discussions are generally focused on proposing concrete solutions for overcoming specific challenges to Romania’s industrial transformation. They provide valuable support for EPG’s development of forward-thinking policy recommendations for enabling a low-carbon industry in Romania, subsequently communicated to policymakers through EPG’s own engagement.
EPG does not act as a representative of the interests of Romania industry, but rather uses these roundtable discussions to facilitate connections and knowledge exchange, and validate ongoing research on policy options for industrial decarbonisation, part of EPG’s broader aim to enable climate neutrality in an economically efficient and socially just way.
